The Executive Team

 

Rev. Fr. Demetrios Koumarellas, B.Th.

Director - Editor - Webmaster

 

Fr. Koumarellas was born in Toronto, Ontario. He graduated with a diploma in Computer Engineering Technology from Seneca College of Applied Arts Technology in Toronto. After a nine-year career in the computer/networking industry, he decided that he would serve in the Vineyard of the Lord as a clergyman. He entered the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy in September 2004. He was ordained a deacon on October 19th, 2006 and a priest on October 26th, 2006. He graduated as the Valedictorian of the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy, receiving his Bachelor's of Theology from l'Universite de Sherbrooke. He is the Director of Social Services and Director of Internet Ministries for the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto (Canada), as well as English Secretary to His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios. He was recently appointed Spiritual Youth Director of the Youth Department. He currently sits on the Metropolis Council. Fr. Koumarellas is married to Presbytera Donna. He is currently the Parish Priest at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Chapel in Toronto, Ontario. Together with Tim Prattas and Lia Karidas, Fr. Koumarellas is one of the founders of iEcclesia.  

 

 

 

Tim Prattas, B.Th., M.Div.

Director

 

Tim is currently a chanter and catechist at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto, Ontario. He began the iEcclesia podcasts when he was National Youth Director of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto (Canada), a post which he served for the past 5 years. During that time, he served as a member of the Metropolis Council, an ex-officio member of the Department of Religious Education and Secretary of His Eminence Metropolitan Sotirios. As Youth Director, he represented the Department during official events throughout Canada, Greece and Constantinople. He has completed his Masters in Divinity (with a specialization in Youth and Family Ministry) at Tyndale Seminary in Toronto.He has previously served as chanter and catechist at St. Nicholas Church in Toronto. Together with Fr. Koumarellas and Lia Karidas, Tim is one of the founders of iEcclesia.

Mr. Nick Asimenios

 

Originally from St. Nicholas Church in Toronto, Nick is a member of the Metropolis Youth Board and Missions Board of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Toronto (Canada), and has traveled to Guatemala on recent Missions trips. Nick has been both a camper and counsellor at Camp Metamorphosis Toronto, and has assisted his Church as Youth Group President, sexton and chanter. Nick has been a guest once and host fifteen times.

Patricia Rakopoulos

 

Patricia is of Greek and Portuguese descent. A former parishioner of the Church of the Annunciation in Toronto, she currently attends Kimisis tis Theotokou Community in Ottawa, where she is pursuing further studies at the University of Ottawa. In the past, she served as a Sunday School teacher and Youth Director. She studied at the University of Toronto, acquiring her degree in Biochemistry and Botany (and minoring in Christianity and Culture). Patricia is currently serving her third term on the Metropolis Youth Board. Patricia has hosted eleven episodes, and has been a guest on three other episodes.

Mr. Costas Economos, B.Th.

 

Originally from St. George Cathedral in Vancouver, British Columbia, Costa is a recent graduate of the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy, elected as Valedictorian for the Year 2008. Previous to his tenure at the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy, he was a graduate of BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology). He has been a guest on three shows and a host of one podcast. Currently, Costa is employed by the Hellenic Community of Vancouver as chanter and secretary.

 

 

Ms. Eleni Kanavas

 

 

Eleni is originally from St. John the Theologian Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto, Ontario. In the past, Eleni has served on the Metropolis Youth Board, writing for the Department’s publications and for the Orthodox Way. She studied journalism and anthropology at the University of Toronto. She has hosted four shows.

 

 

 

 

 

Ms. Lia Karidas

 

Lia was one of the pioneers of iEcclesia, serving as its first host. Her parish is Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Community of London, Ontario. She is currently serving on the Metropolis Youth Board, along with serving as President of the London GOYA Chapter for four years. Lia is studying Honours Media, Information and Technoculture with a minor in English at the University of Western Ontario. she has hosted two shows.

 

 

Ms. Tonya Konidis

 

 

 

Tonya is a parishioner of Sts. Panteleimon, Anna and Paraskevi Greek Orthodox Community in Markham, Ontario. She currently studies at York University, and is involved as co-Youth Director at her parish. She has hosted one program.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rev. Fr. Theodore Paraskevopoulos

 

 

Fr. Theodore is the parish priest of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Winnipeg Manitoba. He obtained his M.A. from St. Vladimir’s Theological Seminary in Crestwood, New York and his B.Th. from the Toronto Orthodox Theological Academy. He is married to Presvytera Joanna. He has hosted one program.
