Episode Summary

iEcclesia ended a very successful first season and begins the second with a discussion on the Mother of God, the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary. On August 15th, the Orthodox Church celebrates the Dormition or falling asleep of the Virgin Mary. The first two weeks of August mark the period known as the Dormition fast and some scholars and theologians also call it the pascha of summer. Host Patricia Rackopoulos and guest Fr. Peter Avgeropoulos discuss how the Mother of God received this honour and how we view her from the standpoint of the Orthodox Church. Also discussed are the services held during this period of time and their meaning.

Join us as we discuss the Virgin Mary and how this Lady changed the world.
