Episode Summary Today’s show is on a topic many of our listeners had questions about, and one that many people (Orthodox Christians, other denominations or non-Christians) have questions about. When some people think of Confession, the Roman Catholic imagery of a priest sitting in a Confessional usually comes up. Hollywood has helped for people to think of confession this way, from sitcoms to blockbuster movies. Stepping out of this cliché representation of Confession, it is something people have differing opinions. Some Orthodox embrace it as a way to get closer to God, while others are very uncomfortable with an idea that a priest has to hear – at times – private moments of one’s life. “I can confess in front of an icon” and “isn’t God everywhere?” are two statements people that don’t like Confession usually say. Some that go to Confession see it as almost a therapy session, saying what they need to, gaining absolution and moving on. Yet, is Confession just that? Today’s topic deals with this issue in, Confession: Just a Shrink with a Collar?
